After many delays, I finally got my Le Car roadworthy again after its run in with a blind driver !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . I had been stymied by a frozen rear shock absorber and a lazy parts guy who didn’t want to find the last OEM rear shock for one of these left in North America that was somehow hiding deep in his storage warehouse. But, it is now fully shocked and we just went for a nice long drive and, damn, does it give me more joy than anything to drive this thing. It’s just the happiest little car. It has more squeaks and rattles than a box of gerbils in a clothes dryer, and it smells, and it’s got less horsepower than everything else on the road and that includes bicycles; but I can drive it with the go pedal pressed to the floor, and we zip in and around traffic like a slalom skier. So, quit looking at Hellcats and ST’s and get yourself something light and underpowered because that’s where the real fun is.

I knew a guy who had one of those in about 1983 and it was old and weird then, too.

I know I’ve told you this before and I can no longer find the pic but you NEED to get a plate that reads “LE PLATE”

Damn. I was lucky it only got clipped and it was already so full of dings and dents, one more doesn’t make much of a difference. I had to do a bunch of suspension work, though.

That’s got a GT plate on it, you go there as well or you just not register it in your own name yet?

Ah, yeah, that’s a beaut. You don’t want to drive that car fast so everyone can get a good look at it.

Agreed. I have way more fun in old cars than in new ones. Not so much when commuting every day, but certainly when
driving

Don’t want to drive it fast, cause it doesn’t stop very fast. Lol. 60-0 mph stopping distance is probably 300 feet.

It really is a wonderful little car. It looks like a total mess, but it has tons of personality. And, people always want to talk to me when I’m in it. I had a whole conversation with a guy in another car while driving the other day. He was telling me how his father had one when he was a kid and he wanted to know who repaired it for me. I need more cars, too. And, they’d all be like this one. I really need to sell this screenplay for a good fee.

Jobjoris

06/14/2016 at 06:03 | 1 |
That’s not about the car’s: it’s just your personality ;-)
Cars and dogs. Always ready to start a conversation. For you. How did the plugging of that screenplay go for you? I’m back at a wanting a Bagheera again.
Jonee
> Jobjoris
06/15/2016 at 02:21 | 1 |
That kind of does describe me, too. Whether it’s a good personality is up for debate.
I don’t have a dog. We haven’t had our pitch, yet. We’re still polishing the script and somebody is going to make some storyboards for us to make a better presentation. It’s actually the guy who does the storyboards for the Coen Bros., so it should be good.
Yeah, you need a Matra. It’ll be your Le Car. It’ll make you smile every time you see it. And you’d probably be seeing it more than driving it.

Who am I to judge, I’m not the value judgment kind of guy.
Walking a dog is like that: people start talking to you very easy. Or cursing you for the dog shitting their lawn.
Sounds good! Getting help for that storyboard is a great idea. Do you need a native Dutch speaking character in the movie?
If that is the case I’ll just put it in my business unit. I only go there once a week so it won’t hurt that much ;-) What color should I make it? I think orange as well. Or some green. Maybe blue. I want a 2nd gen though.

Jonee

06/16/2016 at 01:16 | 1 |
I prefer to wear blue jeans, but I like suits. So, Le Smurf might be a good reason to start wearing them. People used to wear suits all the time, but now we’re all babies, so we’ve become slobs.

I talk to people with dogs a lot. Cats definitely don’t have the same effect. If you’re out with a cat, you’re a weirdo. And people aren’t generally impressed when you tell them you own a cat.
I might be able to squeeze in a Dutchie. I’ll have my people get in touch with your people.
You really should get one of the U engine cars. I love the way they look in orange, actually. But, the green is cool, too. I don’t like the taillights on the 1980 cars. It looks like a Datsun 280ZX. Other than that, I don’t have a preference between the earlier or later ones. I guess the 1.5 motor is better. Was that only in the 2nd gen. cars?

Maybe we should become dandies before the Wankerl becomes a big hit. Could be a marketing thing in all the interviews we’ll have to give. Finally: that bowler hat.
I’ll have mine in Orange.

Krista used to take her lovebird (a small parrot) everywhere, it was even in class. Hahaha, that certainly was talked about!
WE HAVEN’T HEARD ANYTHING YET! Keep in mind I have a busy schedule!
One was flooded a couple of weeks ago during some heavy raining in france, check this out . There’s at least two others if I’m not mistaken.
I don’t like the chrome/alu trim piece on the side-rear windows of the first gen. The first gen came with the 1.5 Poissy engine for one year. After that the restyling with the new taillights was done.

That’s funny. A bird lady, huh? Wouldn’t it make a lot of noise? Is it no longer with us? There’s also those guys that bring their snake everywhere. They’re usually also into heavy metal.
We can schedule the shoot around you. I’m sure we’ll have a big enough budget to get you a private plane to Hollywood.
Oh no! Not Matra! And that poor Sbarro Espace. Maybe you can get a flood damaged one really cheap.
I don’t mind the little chrome piece. It’s very 60's.

It is with us, it’s just not with us . The bird got too “attached” to Krista, seriously regarded her as being her partner. Crazy animals. There’s only one song for Krista:
I’m glad you won’t make concessions. Your movie/story needs a hobgoblin.
You had not heard that yet? I weeped for days!

I was thinking about putting two horns out of each side. A post-modern viking look. That handkerchief is a great idea. Same green?

I already have a hat like that for rooting for my favorite (American) football team, the Minnesota Vikings.
The handkerchief should contrast, so yellow. Like those pig tails.

Was it a difficult breakup? Women can be so clingy whether ape or fowl. Ah, Julio. Who can resist a good Julio song? That’s her favorite?
Oh, that’s right. The Hobgoblin as Himself, it’ll say in the credits.
I had not heard about that. We don’t get all the details about the flooding and I guess I don’t subscribe to the Matra museum’s Twitter page. That really sucks. I’m sure they’ll restore the cars, though.

Yes, it was hard for her. This is her favorite, along with Quiéreme mucho . Of course. What a guy.

Jonee

06/23/2016 at 01:32 | 1 |
More than “a little” pink. I had a lot of orange going on until recently. I once had an orange Gremlin, and my previous Le Car was orange. And, up until a few months ago, I had an blindingly orange rug in my living room. But, purple was always my favorite color, which I may have mentioned once or twice before. Syracuse University, which you now know is where I went to school instead of traveling to Sicily, has orange as its main color. Their nickname for the sports teams is simply “The Orange.” So, my dad is big into orange because he went there, too.

A real man wears pink. My favorite towel for the beach is red though. With Hello Kitty on it. That one is so awesome.
Orange FTW! Your dad is awesome. Did he wear orange when he was into covert operations as well?
Jonee

06/24/2016 at 00:55 | 1 |
I know Hello Kitty is popular in your house. I was actually wearing a pink shirt myself yesterday. Back in the 19th Century, pink was considered a boy’s color, and blue for girls. Because red was thought of as masculine, so light red, pink, was for male kids. But, then it swapped in the early 20th Century for some reason. So, you could have been surrounded by light blue. And, you’re spot-on with the towel.
And also, in the Middle-Ages, a “boy” was an older male child, like a teenager. And all young children were called “girls.” I’m not sure if that meant they all got blue, though.
Jobjoris

06/24/2016 at 05:16 | 0 |
This is the only picture I could find of my towel, this was Sicily two years ago:
It’s on the seat on the left. Never knew about that pink/boy relation. Awesome. Should have stayed that way. Although Josje is more of a pink person anyway.
Girls for all kids, really? Only in English or over here as well (meisje)?
Jonee
> Jobjoris
06/26/2016 at 20:55 | 1 |
That’s a very artistic portrait of your towel. You must really love it. It seems like Josje would like pink no matter the gender connection.
That was probably just an olde English thing. I think “boy” was originally only used for like a page boy, or something.
Jobjoris

Artistic? It was just thrown there after an afternoon at the city beach of Syracuse! And I took the picture when I woke up, always nice to wake up being greeted like that.
What is a page boy?

It’s a lovely sight to wake up to. And the view isn’t bad, either. I’ve never heard anyone talk so adoringly about a towel.
A page boy was a servant in the Middle Ages. A young man who would help you dress, and hold the piss bucket.

Still working on Hello Kitty & the TTB. No need for a boudoir though.
English nudity was what turned us all into men. Mayfair definitely was my favorite magazine with content of Sabrina, Sam Fox and Mel Appleby. Page 3 girls ended up in Mayfair all the time. No TTB shot with these though!

Hahaha... Great minds DO think alike! We would have only one bookstore carrying Mayfair in it’s lineup. Maybe some gasstation would have it as well but I didn’t buy much gas then and if I did (with my Honda MTX bike) I didn’t have time (helmet still on) or space to carry that home anyway ;-)
